CHRISTMAS BASKETS 2025
FOR FAMILIES OF TWO SCHOOLS
AT THE SHARPSTOWN AREA

Christmas Baskets Promotional video

Thanks be to God, everything went well yesterday during our journey to deliver the baskets to the two schools in the Sharpstown area—Jane Long Academy and KIPP Sharpstown College Preparatory. We were blessed to witness the joy on the faces of many families as they received their baskets and additional gifts. All glory to God for guiding and protecting us throughout the entire day.

I hope to create a video with all the photos and clips from this event. I will let you know as soon as it is ready. Thank you for your patience—it may take a few weeks to complete.

For now, I can share this with certainty: many families were blessed because each of you did something to help them feel cared for and loved.

Thank you so much for your companionship on this journey and for your great support of our Christmas Baskets Project 2025! My heartfelt thanks go to:

  • Our Father God, for His guidance, blessings, and protection upon all of us.
  • The Compassion leadership team — Donna Fain, who suggested focusing on these two schools and offered her help in so many ways, and Marcy Briceno, for her constant and loyal support as always.
  • Robin Pimentel, for always being such a support in everything, and for preparing the delicious finger-food table for the assembly session.
  • Our promotional video “actors” — Pastor Sergio Ochaeta (who acted wonderfully while creating that “fire” moment!), Donna Fain, Robin Pimentel, Carmen and Norge Pérez, Elder Mike Weber, and our video recorder, Elias Trevino.
  • West Houston Communication Ministry, for helping spread the word and promoting the project.
  • Our generous basket sponsors, always so selfless and such a blessing to many families.
  • Those who brought toys, gifts, or donated funds for the children.
  • Those who prayed for the project and for our team.
  • To our Christmas card writers, for dedicating their time to share God’s words with our basket recipients.
  • The Adventurers Club, led by Brother Steven Francoise, for gathering and donating 20 gifts.
  • The small group of Pathfinder families, led by Elder Gerson Peñuela, who helped with both the assembly and the delivery.
  • Our elders, Gerson Peñuela and Augusto Tzul, who served as God’s messengers at both schools.
  • Our bus driver, Enrique Cardenas, family of our dear Carol Ochaeta.
  • Chloe Gonzaga and Jasper Cajocon, for blessing the families with musical accompaniment during the delivery.
  • Kara Barbosa, for her support as our photographer at the delivery day.
  • Houston Adventist Academy, for lending us their bus—especially Pastor Salomón Espinoza, our point of contact and one of the founders of our Compassion Outreach Ministry in 2018.
  • The assembly team, for their tremendous help wrapping baskets and organizing more than 200 gifts—a new record! Thank you for your hard work and joyful spirit.
  • Those who added fun, laughter, and joyful moments during the assembly session.
  • The delivery team, for their companionship and endurance. You helped carry heavy items, endured long waits, adapted to unexpected changes, faced the sun and heat, and carried the emotional weight of listening to each family’s story. Through it all, you showed patience, adaptability, compassion, and a heart willing to speak with God on behalf of those who may not be used to asking for prayer. We pray that the love and kindness you offered planted a seed in their hearts, and that God used you in a powerful way so those families could see Him through you.
  • Our Church leaders and administrative staff, for their support.
  • My family — Elizabeth, Christian, Ely Ann, Abby, and Elias — and especially my wonderful husband Elias Treviño, whose companionship and support made this project so much more joyful for me.
  • To our whole Compassion Outreach team, for all the love reflected in each prayer, each comment, each hug when we got to see each other in the whatsapp group, in the facebook group or in person.
  • To our West Houston SDA Church, our second home.

I don’t know about you, but for me, these are the moments when I feel most connected to you as my church family. More than simply sharing a pew on Sabbath mornings, these experiences—assembling baskets together, traveling as a team, facing the small messes, confusions, last-minute changes, and unanswered questions—are the moments that help us truly know one another. They become precious memories: times when our hearts were full because even the small inconveniences became part of a blessing that touched people who may be far from God, discouraged, or simply needing to feel cared for—even by strangers.

God uses us despite our weaknesses. When we offer Him everything we have, even with our limitations, He creates beautiful results. Thank you for being willing to give your best so someone else’s life could be lifted and encouraged.

Thank you so much, Compassion Outreach Team.
You are truly amazing!
